Block Island, Rhode Island

This past weekend, Ryan and I took a special, little weekend trip to Rhode Island.  My birthday was on Sunday (thanks for all the texts, calls, gifts, etc!) and our 1 Year Anniversary is in a month (can you believe it!?), and since I'll be back to work in full-swing by then, we celebrated.  We pretty much fell in love with Rhode Island on our Boston trip last September and have been wanting to go back ever since.

I'm just going to apologize in advance for how long this post will be.  We took so many pictures.  Like an embarrassing amount of pictures. I tried to cut it down to just my absolute favorites- still so many.

We left Friday around 4pm and arrived at our hotel that evening- the NYLO.  Ok, wow.  Check out the pictures.  It had this cool, modern vibe and was gorgeous.  Polished concrete floors, giant shower head, hanging lights, exposed brick- it was fun.
We woke up early to catch the Ferry to spend the whole day on Block Island.  And just for reference, this is where Block Island is located:
There's actually a ferry you can take from Long Island too!  It's basically just a little island east of NY.

So we took the ferry...

 and arrived in Block Island.
We rented bikes and cruised the Island the whole day (apparently totaling 15 miles!).
Block Island was GORGEOUS!  Words can't even describe what a perfect day we had.  The Island was so quaint and picturesque.  Take me back.
We decided to bike all the way up north to the tip of the Island:
When we got the end of the road, we walked along the shore about a mile...
Until we got to the point.  And took these gems.
We stopped for lunch and hung out on the beach for about an hour- not wanting to leave.
Hold your comments- it was our anniversary.
We got back to our bikes and headed back to town.
And stopped for some ice cream because it was HOT!
We then headed for the south end of the Island to see the Mohegan Bluffs.
And enjoyed the beauty of this rocky cove.
We got back on our bikes and rode to the middle of the Island again for dinner. Ryan obviously went shirtless for this ride.
And this was the view we had at dinner that night.
We ate at Dead Eye Dick's- probably the best seafood I've ever had.
I had the lobster roll with GIANT chunks of lobster
and Ryan had the salmon.

We were full and sore and ready to head back to the Harbor to return our bikes and do some shopping in the local stores.
And then the sun began to set.  And it was unreal.

The perfect end to the perfect day.

Sunday (my actual birthday) we just went out for a late brunch and headed home.  Pictured below you can see my breakfast- eggs benedict, our dinner- peanut curry noodles, and my birthday "cake"- my favorite cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  Yum.
I'd say it was pretty much the most perfect weekend.
I may have even made the comment: "This weekend might be better than the weekend we got married."  But then I remembered how prefect that weekend was.

Love from the East Coast
