Churchy

Last Sunday our Bishop was called into the Stake Presidency, meaning in a few weeks he will no longer be our Bishop.  He's such an amazing man and has such a great love for our ward.  Of course we are all sad that he will no longer be serving over our ward, but he will be a wonderful addition to the Stake Presidency, so we are grateful for that.

But today, he spoke of the process of assigning a new Bishop to the ward.  He said that one of questions when considered who should be called to the position reads something like, Has this man planted roots in the area?  President Newman spoke not on setting physical roots, but setting personal roots.  Roots in which we are doing the best we can in the area we are in.  Are we doing all that we can to uplift those around us?  Are we serving others in the area?  It was an amazing talk and really made us think of how we can better set these roots in New York.  Of course we're not sure how long we'll be here.  But for now, we're choosing to be happy and grateful for this wonderful opportunity we have to live in this incredible place.

And it really made me think of this talk from the October 2008 LDS General Conference.  President Monson spoke about finding joy in the journey.  I encourage anyone who might stumble upon this to read this short talk.  It's beautiful.  You can read it here.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday.  We did.

And Happy 3 month Anniversary to us :)
