The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

On the way to Stake Conference yesterday, Ryan and I passed a sign to Sleepy Hollow, a little town outside of Tarrytown.  Obviously we decided we'd stop on the way back...hoping to maybe see the Headless Horseman.

So I'm sure you've heard the story of Ichabod Crane, who falls in love with Katrina Van Tassel, attends a party at her home, and later that evening is chased by the Headless Horseman and then vanishes.  This story by Washington Irving was a favorite of my family's around Halloweentime.  Naturally, Ryan and I were excited to see where the story was set.

We spent most of our time in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.  Most of Irving's character's names came from headstones in the cemetery.  We found a few.  And the fall colors just keep getting prettier here.

And when we got home, I made some homemade hot chocolate.  It was a wonderful Sunday.
